Weekly Tennis Clinics for Kids, Teens, High School, and Adults
August-October 2024
- Small class sizes allow for individual attention to all students.
- Low compression tennis balls are used in all kids' clinics for ages 4-12, allowing for quicker success and more fun for all students.
- Multiple age/ability grouping (ages 4-5, 6-8, 9-14, 14+) allows each student to participate with children of his or her ability level.
- In the event of rain, the clinics will be held indoors at the Murrrysville Racquet Club if court time is available.
Teaching Pro: Bob Phillips, USPTA Certified Tennis Professional
Limit: 10 students, per class.
No Racquet? No Problem.
If you do not have a tennis racquet, I will be happy to provide you with a racquet for the first clinic. At the end of the first clinic, I will recommend a racquet of the correct size and weight.
Racquets will be available for purchase at the clinic.
Miss a Class? No Problem. If you have to miss a Little Grippers or Little Kahunas class during the Fall session, you may attend any class on a Tuesday or a Wednesday as your make-up.
Clinic classes that are canceled because of inclement weather (or other reasons) will be made up. Click on "Make-up Dates" in the Tennis Clinics menu bar, above, for the make-up class schedule.

WEEKLY CLINIC CLASSES
Little Grippers (Ages 4-5)
Based on fun, this class includes instruction, drills, and games that help develop hand-eye coordination, motor skills, and racquet skills in the young player. Emphasis on ball contact and use of the tossing arm for the serve.
Large Nerf tennis balls and large Red and Yellow low-compression tennis balls are used in this clinic.
Tuesdays, 5:30-6 p.m. August 20-October 22 (10 classes).

Little Kahunas (Ages 6-8)
Based on fun, this class includes instruction, drills, and games that help develop agility, hand-eye coordination, and basic tennis skills in the young player. Emphasis on racquet preparation, ball contact point, and serving skills.
Low-pressure Red and Yellow tennis balls are used in this clinic.

Junior Beginner (Ages 9-12)
For the beginner-level Junior player. Consists of instruction and drills that help to develop sound stroke techniques and proper footwork. Emphasis on serve, return, stroke production, movement, and "live-ball" rallying. All drills simulate match situations.
Low-pressure Orange and Yellow tennis balls are used in this clinic.
Mondays, August 19-October 7 (7 classes). No class on Labor Day, September 2.
From mid-September thru October, it gets dark earlier in the evening. So, the clinic time is shortened to an hour during for the last four classes.
August 19-September 9: 6:30-8:00 p.m.
September 16-October 7: 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Junior Intermediate (Ages 9-12)
For the intermediate-level Junior player. Consists of instruction and drills that help to develop sound stroke techniques and proper footwork. Emphasis on serve, return, stroke production, movement, and "live-ball" rallying. All drills simulate match situations. Match play will be introduced.
Low-pressure Green Dot tennis balls are used in this clinic.
Thursdays, August 22-October 10. (8 classes).
From mid-September thru October, it gets dark earlier in the evening. So, the clinic time is shortened to an hour and a half for the last four classes.
August 22-September 12: 6:00-8:00 p.m.
September 19-October 10: 6-7:30 p.m.

Junior Challengers (Ages 9-14)
For the advanced-level Junior player, ages 9-14, who can successfully rally and consistently get their serve in. Consists of instruction and drills that help to develop sound stroke techniques and proper footwork. Emphasis on serve, return, stroke production, movement, proper court positioning, and "live-ball" rallying. All drills simulate match situations. Match play will be included in each class.

High School/Advanced Juniors (Ages 14+)
Consists of instruction and drills that help to develop the all-around skills of the high school player and those players who will begin their freshman year on the high school tennis team. Instruction on stroke technique, specialty shots, match play strategy, and match play tactics. All drills simulate match situations. Serve, return, and match play will be included and emphasized. Includes instruction and match play for both doubles and singles.

ADULT CLINICS
A fun fast-moving clinic that will take your game to the next level! Emphasis on proper stroke technique, specialty shots, and match strategy and tactics. All drills simulate tennis match situations. Includes instruction and match play in both doubles and singles.
